Red Chilli Hideaway is Kampala’s oldest and most popular budget retreat. In 2013, they moved from Mbuya suburb to Butabika, a quite area about 40 minutes’ drive from Kampala City Centre.

The Fat Cat Backpackers opened its doors in July 2014 and has quickly become Kampala’s best budget hostel. It is well located within the center of the city, next to the Dutch bar Iguana.

Forest Cottages are beautifully set in Kampala, on Naguru Hill, with big gardens and very friendly staff. Rooms are clean, with comfortable beds, a good shower, well cooked food and a good breakfast.

Ruwenzori View Guesthouse - $

Fort Portal area is a nice place to stick around for some days. When renting a Roadtrip car, you can easily explore Kibale tropical rainforest, track the chimpanzees, swim in freshwater crater lakes, hike the Rwenzori Mountains... and the town itself has a nice vibe.

Going to look at the chimps during your trip? Kibale Guest Cottages are a fine mid-range accommodation option to stay, relax and enjoy the activities that Kibale forest and surroundings have to offer. The Kibale guest cottages are located 36 km on Fort Portal - Kamwenge road which is adjacent to Kibale National Park.
