The Jinja - Sipi Adventure - 5 days from $340 pp
Up for some action and dramatic nature? Take your chances with our eastern loop, visiting Jinja and Mount Elgon National Park. Rafting, bungee jumping, mountain biking, horse riding, Nile river sunset cruise, fishing, rock climbing, abseiling, hiking… Do we need to continue?
Roadtrip Uganda offers car rental and pre-booked lodges for your ease.
The below itinerary does not include any activities, as it varies from person to person what you’re up to. In case you need some advice, we are happy to recommend and arrange it for you. The accommodation included is in mid-range lodges.
This loop can be combined with any circuit starting or ending in Kampala, or as an extension coming from Murchison Falls National Park. In case of the latter, you need to factor in an overnight stay in Lira or Soroti town.
Day 1: You will drive from Kampala to Sipi Falls, at the foothills of Mount Elgon and home to a series of three spectacular waterfalls, some of the best Arabica coffee in the world, and beautiful sunsets! Sipi Falls is a place to enjoy the challenges of the mountains, and also a place to just relax and unwind in a cool peaceful climate - Drive: 300 km / 5 hours.
Accommodation: two nights at Sipi River Lodge, an excellent eco-lodge located next to the river with excellent views on the waterfalls. You will be staying in a spacious banda made of local wood and stone. Breakfast & dinner included.
Day 2: Plenty of activities can be organised from the lodge. One of the most popular is to explore the three waterfalls with a local guide. Other activities include a coffee tour, mountain biking, rock climbing, abseiling, trout fishing and day hikes in Mount Elgon National Park.
Day 3: Jinja is on the menu for today. Referred to as the “Adventure Capital of East Africa”, the area has much to offer, including world-class grade-5 rafting, horse riding, fishing and so forth. Also, Jinja town is nice to wander around for an afternoon – Drive: 190 km / 2.5 hours.
Accommodation: two nights at the Nile Porch, on the basis of bed & breakfast. The lodge has a good a la carte restaurant. You will be sleeping in a spacious, furnished semi-tented cottage with concrete en-suite bathroom overlooking the river Nile. The lodge is situated at Bujugali Falls and has a swimming pool.
Day 4: Relax - or get your heartbeat up - at the source of the river Nile.
Day 5: Return to Entebbe and drop off the car at the airport – Drive: 120 km / 3-5 hours, depending on traffic. Of course, it is possible to extend your trip. Contact us to discuss your wishes.
